Hi, Melissa

I can see parallels between you and me as I work as a casual teacher and writer and the two converge quite a bit as I write about education (and other areas). But, I reckon you can really get more out of writing. There are well-paid roles are out there, it’s about chasing. One of the writers I follow (Mridu, of the International Freelancer), urges us to send out five marketing pitches a day — it could be as simple as reaching out to a local business to talk about their content needs, applying for an remote job online, putting up your shingle on your personal FB page to let folks know you’re got capacity for more work, etc. And the thing Mridu and other writers (Renegade writers, for eg) talk about is that once you’ve got your array of gigs/clients, you can’t just expect it to hum along, you’ve got to keep pitching even during the busy times. Keep writing — it sounds like that’s what you’re heart is in!

All the best
